What's the Purpose?

I don't really believe in karma or anything like that, I think that God has a purpose for all that happens and, although accidents do happen, there is a greater purpose to all things. We might not like the purpose for which an event happens, but it is there to teach us a lesson, appreciate those around us more, or strengthen us in times of difficulty.

I am trying to work through one of these not-so-pleasant accidents right now as I wait to hear from our vet about our dog, Piper, who fractured his hind leg while recovering at the vet from surgery which repaired a torn ACL (did you get all that?). It's actually been easy for me to see what good has come from this mess over the past few days. For starters, it is forcing Kevin and I to make some pretty tough decisions, both financially and emotionally, on the spot together. I am seeing that Kevin is a good decision maker and really stays calm during hectic times. I have also learned that the people around us, from our veterinarian, Dr. Weaver, to the directors at Eli's daycare, are willing to help us and work with us because they are caring, good people. It is easy to complain that things aren't going our way, but I feel like we've been taught in these two days that Kevin and I do make a good team and we are fortunate to have surrounded ourselves (even in business) with wonderful people.

More news to come on Piper's condition...
